1Time is a low-cost airline based in Kempton Park, Gauteng, Johannesburg, South Africa. It operates scheduled domestic services. Its main base is OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, with hubs at Durban International Airport, East London Airport and Cape Town International Airport^[1].

The name of the company, "one time!", is a South African expression meaning "for real!".

The founders owned an aviation holding company, Afrisource Holdings, through which they owned Aeronexus, an aviation company that offered various aircraft services (and currently performs maintenance for 1Time).

1Time commenced ticket sales in January 2004, and started flying on February 25, 2004, with three daily return flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town International Airports.

The Avstar Group has acquired a 15% shareholding in 1Time Holdings and under the deal the airline will lease two additional 157-seat McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft from the Group. 1Time carried over a million passengers in 2006 on services to eight destinations^[2].

The airline is owned by Afrisource Holdings (50%), MKJH Trust (30%) and Mogwele Investments (20%) and has 420 employees (at March 2007)^[1].

1Time Holdings made an IPO on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange (JSE) on 14 August 2007

The airline was established in July 2001 and started operations in August 2001. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Comair Limited (which is itself a franchisee of British Airways) and was set up by them as a as a smart-choice low-fare carrier.^[1]

Sosoliso Airlines was a scheduled, domestic, passenger airline based in Enugu in eastern Nigeria.

It was established in 1994 and started operations in July 2000. The Nigerian government set a deadline of 30 April 2007 for all airlines operating in the country to re-capitalise or be grounded, in an effort to ensure better services and safety. Seven airlines failed to meet the deadline and as a result would not be allowed fly in Nigeria’s airspace with effect from 30 April 2007. These were: ADC Airlines, Fresh Air, Sosoliso Airlines, Albarka Air, Chrome Air Service, Dasab Airlines and Space World Airline. The affected airlines would only fly when they satisfied the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)’s criteria in terms of re-capitalization and thus be re-registered for operation. ^[1]

Sosoliso Airlines operated flights to Enugu, Port Harcourt, Owerri, Abuja and Lagos. Reservations are possible.

As of August 2006 the Sosoliso Airlines fleet included ^[2] :

According to its website, Sosoliso Airlines operates four aircraft, a McDonnell Douglas MD-81 and three McDonnell Douglas DC-9s.

DC-9 5N-BFD has been identified as the hull loss in the December 10, 2005 crash.

[edit] Incidents and accidents

• On 10 December 2005, Sosoliso Airlines Flight 1145 from Abuja to Port Harcourt crashed on landing with 110 people on board. 2 persons survived. Bimbo Odukoya (A popular Christian speaker) and over 50 students of Loyola Jesuit College, an Abuja-based secondary school, were among the dead. It is reported that a witness states that the plane was struck by lightning about 40 or 50 metres from touching down and the fuel in the wing caught fire and it exploded. This has not yet been confirmed by any authorities.^[3] Following the crash, president Olusegun Obasanjo ordered all Sosoliso planes grounded. ^[4]
